Back to where it all began - Squirrel Cove on Cortes Island

This is the very first place Jim and I ever dropped an anchor --- Squirrel Cove on Cortes Island. We had chartered the Tri-cabin trawler the "Gulf Mariner" from Desolation Sound Charters in Comox and spent 6 nights in Desolation Sound in June of 2012 and spent our very first night in Squirrel Cove.

I think we've come a long way Baby!  Haha.

On this day Squirrel Cove was FULL of boats. When we arrived around 3 pm there were probably 50 boats anchored up. By 6 pm another at least 30 boats had arrived. It was crazy. Not at all what we were used to having in an anchorage. Probably close to 100 boats in there.

We spent two nights there and the second day a lot of boats left and not so many arrived so there were maybe 50 boats left. Another Kk42 arrived in the afternoon - Pacific Star. We took the skiff over and introduced ourselves and visited for a bit. A man and his daughter who live aboard in the Seattle area.

We took the skiff to the government dock and wandered about a bit on shore. Got ice cream cones from the grocery store. There is also a little craft shop with locally made items for sale.

The weather was quite hot and sunny. We felt like we were back into summer.

An interesting boat anchored up in Squirrel Cove.  Quite the group of people aboard. They were having a good time.

A gaggle of Canada Geese making the rounds to the boats looking for food.

Lilly having a little nap in the skiff - basking in the sun.

Cheers!!  On to Pender Harbour.

We are enjoying our last few days on the water.
